Thinking on bird flu

From last December on, there are approximately 10 countries having the cases of bird flu in Asia.  Millions of chicken died form such horrible infectious disease.  In Vietnam and Thailand, dozens people were dead, for they were infected bird flu.  Just one month, how could the flu spread so fast?  After a deliberation of this question, I have found some reasons:

To begin with, the work of quarantine inspection in chicken trade market is too roughly.  Experts said it was possible that one little source of infection was overlooked, and it spread quickly, finally, made the current situation that so many Asian countries had serious problem with bird flu.  In southern Asia, there are so many market of trading chicken near the borders.  Chicken was traded over the border without any inspection.  Some bird flu, which was attached in chicken’s shit, clung to the trader’s sole of shoes through which it spread to other countries.  Therefore, quarantine inspection is really critical anytime.

Secondly, it is possible that bird flu was spreading through migratory bird.  There is a report, it said, in a Japanese ranch, people were very strictly to do sterilization.  And after the bird flu occurred in Korea, nobody had been there, but still, bird flu occurred in that ranch.  It seems to be impossible, but actually, there are so many migratory birds land near the ranch from Korea, the best explanation is the chicken in the Japanese ranch were infected bird flu by those migratory birds which have been infected in Korea.

Last not the least, the government of these countries mastered weak information about the situation that how serious is the bird flu in their countries.  Thailand government was forced to accept that there were bird flu in their country after the flu have been spreading in Thailand for 2 weeks.  The government did not realize the real situation of the bird flu.  Therefore, they never made a right decision to control the disease, and gave rise to the seriously spreading.

All in all, the outbreak of bird flu in Asia was not occasional.  The shortcomings in quarantine inspection would be the main reason.  The governments of those countries have to learn lots from the disease.  All the people in Asia should not so concerned to the flu, and the whole Asia could overcome this disease hand in hand.
